This session will focus on commercial drone market and its uses in the Roofing Industry. It will address the major factors that are fueling commercial drone adoption, including drone pilot services and artificial intelligence (AI) and will explore different technologies, services and companies that Roofers can use. The session will explore the challenges that are being solved in the Roofing Industry today and will expound on the power of AI in extracting business valued, spatial intelligence from drone imagery for Roof Inspectors and Estimators. It will address decision points on running your own “do it yourself” drone-roofing program. The session will conclude by highlighting recommended ways to get started, including those areas in your business that would benefit the most.
As VP of Innovation at Pointivo, Bill has used his expert knowledge of drones, computer vision and AI to successfully bridge the use of drone technology to provide automated survey and inspection of telecom towers, with the largest drone and tower companies in the world. He is currently scaling up the industry’s first drone-based, AI-enabled, Facility Management solution for Commercial Roofing. Bill has a passion for changing industries for the better and working with other industry thought leaders to solve the toughest industry problems with technology. Bill joined Pointivo (PV) after successfully running VantedgePoint (VEP). As CEO, VEP propelled PV’s computer vision and machine learning survey technology into the drone, roofing and building envelope industries. Under his guidance, VEP created a scalable, cloud-based architecture that reconstructed drone-based imagery to 3D Point Clouds.

Presenter: Kyle Thomas, Thomas RoofingKeeping abreast of trends in the roofing industry is critical for successful roofing contractors. From his position as the chief elected officer of the National Roofing Contractors Association, no one has their finger more on the pulse of what is going on in the roofing industry throughout the country than Nick Sabino. Nick will provide an up-to-the-minute report on what he sees from his perspective in the association and the industry at large.
Kyle Thomas is vice president of Thomas Roofing Co, Mobile, Ala., a commercial roofing, sheet metal, waterproofing, restoration and construction services company serving Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi. In addition to his current role as NRCA Chairman Elect, Thomas has served as a Vice Chairman and an NRCA Director in 2005-08 and 2011-14. He also served as chairman of the Future Executives Institute in 2006-08 and has been a member of the Educational Resource, Education Resource Oversight, Health and Safety, Manual Update, PAC Advisory and Technical Operations committees.

Zach Fields serves as Vice President for CEFGA and works to support over 160 skilled trade programs in Georgia’s public schools. He coordinates CEFGA’s K12 Pipeline initiative with trade associations, individual employers, philanthropic foundations, legislators, GADOE, and SkillsUSA. He is an NCCER Master Trainer and serves on boards for the Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education (GACTE) and the Trade and Industrial Educators of GA (TIEGA) as well as CTAE Advisory Boards for the GA Department of Education and multiple school systems.
