2022 Career Expo Cancelled

After careful consideration, and in the interest of keeping our students and all guests safe, we have made the difficult decision to not host our annual CareerExpo event in 2022.

After talking with partners in industry and education, we realized the time is still not right to bring together thousands of people from across the state for this type of event, in particular. As you know, CareerExpo is designed as an indoor, hands-on, interactive event. In short, there are still too many variables and challenges related to COVID-19 to ensure the safety of our guests.

The good news is that we are moving forward in hosting the 2022 SkillsUSA State Championships on February 24-25. As organizers, we are excited about getting back to the Georgia World Congress Center and hosting a limited number of students and teachers. We also view this as a first step back to the full SkillsUSA State Championships and CareerExpo that we’ve all grown to love over the years. Our goal and our hope is that we will be back to our full event in 2023.

IRE Announces New 2021 Dates

The International Roofing Expo is excited to launch a virtual conference and expo in 2021 in addition to a physical event. The virtual event will be held on March 2-4, 2021 and the in-person event is rescheduled from April to August 10-12, 2021 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.

2021 CEFGA In-Person Career Expo Cancelled

Per Scott Shelar, President & CEO of CEFGA, announced today that after several meetings and conversations with their partners, they have determined there is no clear path to hosting an in-person CareerExpo in 2021. Therefore, they have made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person CareerExpo portion of their event for 2021. They are, however, moving forward with plans to host an in-person, socially-distanced SkillsUSA State Event for all construction-related contests at the Georgia World Congress Center on March 4-5, 2021.

Bennett Hutchison is awarded roofing industry's highest honor

Bennett Hutchison, a former NRCA president and president of Tip Top Roofers Inc., Smyrna, Ga., was named the 65th recipient of NRCA's J.A. Piper Award during NRCA's 125th Annual Convention Feb. 20-24 in Orlando, Fla.

Presented each year at the convention, the J.A. Piper Award recognizes roofing professionals who have devoted constant, outstanding service to NRCA and the roofing industry.

In addition to serving as NRCA's president from 1995-96, Hutchison has served on NRCA's board of directors, Executive Committee and PAC Advisory Committee. He also is a founding member of The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress.

"He is the consummate salesman, responsible for recruiting more NRCA members than any living NRCA member," said John Miller, the 2011 J.A. Piper Award recipient and founding chairman of Rosemont, Ill.-based Tecta America Corp., as he presented the award. "He continues to work on behalf of ROOFPAC; he is a constant presence at NRCA events, and he simply never says 'no' when he's asked to help."

First presented in 1948, the J.A. Piper Award is named for former NRCA President Joseph A. Piper, whose extraordinary efforts kept the association alive during the Great Depression.
